These cups are individually turned from solid oak while still at the moisture the tree grew. We dry them after turning, completing that drying by roasting the interior with a torch. This process leaves the cups asymmetrical from both the drying and heating, giving your hands a smooth but irregular character to explore as you sip from your cup. We only use urban sourced wood (trees removed by necessity from urban areas surrounding Madison WI).
