Custom Sawmilling

We have the capacity at the Wood Cycle to saw logs up to 24’ long. With 2 sawmills onsite we can mill any size log into slabs or lumber.

Working through the process with us is easy:

  1. Get the log here - we can go retrieve it or you can bring it (or the arborist can include that in his quote)

  2. We will chat through intended uses with you and that will inform how we should cut it. Pricing varies depending on thickness and some of those cut details.

  3. After we finish cutting you can pick the material up or we can dry it for you.

    Kiln Drying

    We kiln dry everything we cut and can also custom Kiln Dry wood for you.

Sawing Wood

  • We don’t take trees down ourselves but we can often recommend an arborist that works in your area.

  • We can pickup logs from your site and load them with our machine. Or we can coordinate with your arborist and they can load on our trailer. If you can drop logs off at the Wood Cycle site that is usually the most cost effective for you.

  • We operate 2 Bandsaw Sawmills which offer the best yield you can get out of a log. Generally, because of this efficiency, we produce more board feet of lumber out of a log than the Traditional log calculators estimate.

  • Lead times vary but we prioritize customer projects and logs.

  • Depending on what we are cutting (species and thickness) we may wait for a better time of year before cutting to maximize the quality (if your project and timeline allow).

    Drying wood

  • We operate 2 kilns but we typically start by air drying material before putting it in a kiln to finish the process.

  • We can dry customer material, reach out to us for details and we will coordinate delivery of your material with our kiln schedule

  • There are several quality issues that can develop from improper wood drying. Knowing proper drying techniques (or having us dry the wood) will insure the end product is workable material with minimal tension and future issues.

  • Kiln drying wood makes the wood more stable for long term use and heat sterilization in the kiln removes any unwanted pests.

  • Drying time varies depending on the wood species. The timeline grows the thicker the material is.
